The airport of Cephalonia is located close to the Villa.

Only 25km away! The airport is assisted by the public road transport (buses) of Cephalonia.

The buses can be found right outside the airport and the bus driver will provide you tickets. There is also a taxi stand with drivers that work during airport working hours.

Villa Alessandra is only 40km from Sami, a very popular resort with a modern contemporary port which is always chosen by yachts to anchor at during their sail to the Ionian sea.

The place is full of plant life, yet mountain Ainos is black instead of green.

The coast road of Sami is full of all kinds of stores that are being flooded with visitors.

The extraordinary geological phenomenon of Melissani cave is located 37,8km from the accommodation.

The lake is located 20m below the surface of the ground and has a length of almost 160m. The water has depth from 10 to 40m.

When you visit Cephalonia it is definitely worth it to go for a boat ride at Melissani cave.

Located 32,7km away is the Drogarati cave.

The Drogarati cave is only 3km away from Sami. At an altitude of 120m, the depth is 95m and its temperature is 18 degrees Celsius.

It is considered to be one of the most beautiful caves in Greece and is the only one with such big room (dimensions 65x 45 and height of almost 20m) It is also ideal for salt cave therapy.

Poros is even closer, located only 8,7km from Villa Alessandra. Poros is a village with large vegetation and an active port which connects Cephalonia to Epirotic Greece and nearby islands.

The beaches of Poros are sandy and have small, colorful pebbles. They are ideal for couples of all ages since they are quiet and picturesque. Aragia or Ragia beach has won the Blue Flag (sign of quality for shores, managed by municipality and hotel owners) many times.

Santa Maria (Panagia Fidousa) monastery is located only 0,2km away and it is one of Cephalonia’s most important sights. It’s named after a miracle which happens repeatedly almost every year: from August 6 to August 15, a very unique species of little snakes appears in the monastery. They call them (the snakes of Santa Maria).

The little snakes become more and more until August 14 and become almost hundreds in August 15. After the celebration of the 15th of August they disappear.

The miracle is a mystery that no one has ever solved since nobody knows where the snakes live the rest of the year (you will never see one of those elsewhere.)

The beach of Kato Katelios is 2,5km away from the Villa. Katelios is yet another picturesque destination close to the accommodation.

It is a fishing village very close to Skala. Its beach is wide and sandy with picturesque taverns that you can visit to taste fresh fish and more.

Another beautiful beach which is worth-visiting is Kaminia, only 3,8km from the accommodation.

It is located in the southern part of the island, close to Rajakli village. The beach was named after the furnace in the area, where tiles were made.

Since the beach is not o the Ionian sea, it has shallow waters that are warm and therefore, ideal for kids!

Mouda beach (4,5km away) is also located in the southern part of Cephalonia and is actually an extension of Kaminia beach.

It consists of fine golden sand, which makes it an absolutely beautiful landscape. The view of Zakynthos (Zante) and the fact that it is fairly deserted makes it ideal for nudism.

Scala beach is one of Cephalonia’s most popular tourist attractions.

The distance from the Villa to Scala beach is 6,1km away. It has clear waters, trees all the way to the sea and the length of the beach is over 3km.

Scala beach has also been awarded with a Blue Flag.

The monastery of Sission is located 9km away, outside Argostoli. It is one of the oldest monasteries in Cephalonia. It is said that Francis of Assizi himself created it in the 13th century and in the beginning it was a Catholic monastery which was dedicated to Santa Maria (Virgin Mary) but later on became Orthodox.

Locals call it (Santa Maria at Sissia) most likely after Assizi.

You will also be given the opportunity to see the famous (Santa Maria of Assizi) religious icon which is found in the monastery and is a 15th century creation.

The Santa Maria monastery of Atros (after the mountain) is 9,1km close to Poros and is the oldest monastery in Cephalonia since it was built in the 8th century during early Byzantine Era.

It is worth visiting! The monastery is located 760m above the surface of the sea.

You’ll be amazed by the Medieval Τower and the parlor that have been preserved to this day.

You can also visit Trapezaki beach, 11,6km away.

Trapezaki beach is long and has fine sand. The shallow waters make this beach ideal for children. It is located close to Mousata village and Lourdata village. Both villages belong to the ex – municipality of Livathous, in the southern part of Cephalonia.

The monastery of St. Gerasimos is located 15,7km away and is the most important religious sight in Cephalonia along with the monastery of Santa Maria (Virgin Mary, Panagia Fidousa.)

It was built in 1560 by St. Gerasimos himself at the highland of Omalon. St. Gerasimos is the patron saint of Cephalonia.
